Music video research - These New Puritans

Whilst looking at various music videos, I came across 'Elvis' by These New Puritans. Although the video is slightly strange, some of the shots are beautiful. The lighting was constructed very well and looked sharp against a black background.

A frequent feature in music videos is an extreme close up of the artists lips, usually singing. This is simply because they are the singer so why would there not be emphasis on them singing in their own music video? This is something that I have taken onboard and incorporated in my own music video,
The simplicity of the video is another contributing factor as to why it is so stunning. The video just shows men and women from the torso up, with  bare skin showing and not much else. This simple idea goes a long way and results in an effective video.
Finally, the lighting in the video is beautiful. As the video is generally dark, the light hits the subject perfectly creating an eerie but stunning shot.
