Music Video Research - Anna Calvi

As I am making my own music video, it seems sensible that I have a variety of research on pre existing music videos that I can comment on and gain inspiration from.

The first video I looked at was Anna Calvi- Desire:

The first shot features vibrant colours. The chosen colours are warm and fit the colour scheme of the video which includes reds, yellows and oranges.

There are multiple extreme close ups of the artists lips, as they are the one singing and after all it is a music video. Moreover, close ups are used to focus on the artist to promote them and their new song.
Entering another world (e.g tv or a painting) is a common convention of music videos. Here the shot goes from an extreme close up of her eye to the painting which then comes to life.

The video draws to a close with a shot that looks like it is someone's point of view, and that she has been watched this whole time. This feeds into voyeurism, where the woman does not know she is being observed.
